Doug the slug needs a hug。 Will he ever get one? Will he find love? He meets worms, snails, caterpillars and spiders。 Don't give up, Doug!Lots of rhyming in this book。 Also, there are some good vocabular words, plod, grimy, slippy (must be a yinzer), squelchy, slimy, icky, mucky, yucky, and sticky。 It really bothered me - I don't know that a kid would be bothered - but the fact that the last line doesn't rhyme。 It didn't seem to bother the preschool kids to whom this book was read in storytime, Doug the slug needs a hug。 Will he ever get one? Cute and funny story about a slug named Doug。 I like the rhyming in the book and easy to follow however could use more content to the story。

An adorable and silly picture book, great for younger readers。 The book uses character names as a starting point for telling the tale in rhyme and is exceptionally fun to read aloud with bright, simple illustrations。 Kids and parents alike will be tickled by a humorous twist and celebrate Doug's success at the end。 A fun tale that shows there is someone for everyone, even if it comes from the unexpected。- Reviewed by Chelsea G。 An adorable and silly picture book, great for younger readers。 The book uses character names as a starting point for telling the tale in rhyme and is exceptionally fun to read aloud with bright, simple illustrations。 Kids and parents alike will be tickled by a humorous twist and celebrate Doug's success at the end。 A fun tale that shows there is someone for everyone, even if it comes from the unexpected。- Reviewed by Chelsea G。 。。。more

Actual rating: 3。25 starsI love the rhyme scheme of this book! The illustrations are absolutely adorable, but the story was kind of sad at the beginning。 Basically, the story is about a slug who wants to be loved but no one wants to hug him because he’s - well, a slug。 He finds love in the end, but the initial premise is kind of sad for a children's book。 Regardless, it's a nice story to read around Valentines Day and I staff picked it at the bookstore I work at。 Actual rating: 3。25 starsI love the rhyme scheme of this book! The love story of Doug the slug, who searches for love, and just a simple hug, but others thinks he's to grimy, slippy, squelchy, slimy just to name a few。 But what about Gail the snail? Doug and Gail seem to be perfect for a romantic interlude。 Love is in the air。 The love story of Doug the slug, who searches for love, and just a simple hug, but others thinks he's to grimy, slippy, squelchy, slimy just to name a few。 But what about Gail the snail? ~I received this book free from Netgalley for an honest review~This is a cute book with really beautiful artwork。 I usually have quite a soft spot for children's books that are about animals that aren't usually considered cute。 So, I loved that this is about a slug (who is actually very cute thanks to the artwork)。The story felt slightly lacking to me like there was something missing。 I know that there is only so much that you can fit into a children's book but I had read a lot of them and not r ~I received this book free from Netgalley for an honest review~This is a cute book with really beautiful artwork。 I usually have quite a soft spot for children's books that are about animals that aren't usually considered cute。 So, I loved that this is about a slug (who is actually very cute thanks to the artwork)。The story felt slightly lacking to me like there was something missing。 I know that there is only so much that you can fit into a children's book but I had read a lot of them and not really found this issue。 I just felt as if I didn't really click with the characters in the way that I usually do。Despite this, the book is very cute and I can see myself reading it to my little one who is currently on the way! 。。。more

The pairing of Rachel Bright and Nadia Shireen is a match made in heaven: both are talented picturebook authors who have created some of the best books for the younger reader。。 In this particular little gem, Rachel Bright adopts the mantel of the wordsmith, while Nadia Shireen presents the complimentary images which, as usual, are worthy of much more than a passing glance。This is the story of Doug the slug who just wants to find someone to hug。 We join him on his quest and, in so doing, have the The pairing of Rachel Bright and Nadia Shireen is a match made in heaven: both are talented picturebook authors who have created some of the best books for the younger reader。。 In this particular little gem, Rachel Bright adopts the mantel of the wordsmith, while Nadia Shireen presents the complimentary images which, as usual, are worthy of much more than a passing glance。This is the story of Doug the slug who just wants to find someone to hug。 We join him on his quest and, in so doing, have the opportunity to share his hug lorn musings。 Bright's words simply jump and skim along through the story with opportunities for the all important 'joining in moments'。 Shireen's quirky images give the story some visual depth: they simply beg to be explored and allow the reader to ponder over what Doug might be thinking。 This is a book which should grace the bookshelves at home and at school and it is definitely for sharing and reading aloud: young children will just love Doug as will their teachers, parents and anyone who might happen to pick it up。Delightful。 。。。more

Many thanks to Simon & Schuster Children’s UK and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review。This has become a new family favourite。 We couldn’t help but love Doug the lonely slug and rooted for him the entire way through。 It’s such a lovely story and the rhyming and repetition makes it a great choice for little readers。 Highly recommend!

A heartwarming rhyming tale of a slug who is searching for a hug。 This is an ugly duckling type story when the slug who is spurned finds friendship。 Beautifully illustrated and will capture the minds of children and parents

This is one of those amazing children's books with cute illustrations and an important story。 There are many Dougs out there, and yes, there is enough love for all the Dougs in the world! Irresistibly charming。I think we're all desperate to know though if Gail the snail is destined for the veil! The Way Home For Wolf is one of my absolute favourite small children's books so I was really excited to get this one from netgalley。 It's super cute with lovely illustrations alongside really well done rhyming text and has a nice message for little ones too。 Rachel Bright has cemented her place on my must read with the baby list with this one。 The Way Home For Wolf is one of my absolute favourite small children's books so I was really excited to get this one from netgalley。 It's super cute with lovely illustrations alongside really well done rhyming text and has a nice message for little ones too。 Rachel Bright has cemented her place on my must read with the baby list with this one。 。。。more

Doug is a slug in need of a hug。 Sadly, people dislike slugs and won't give them hugs。This was adorable and I liked the ending very much because it says there are different kinds of love, and when you set out you might not find whatever you're looking for but see, there are other ways to be happy! Be you! Nobody is too weird to find friends!Would pass this on to a toddler in my life if I had a toddler in my life。The arc was provided by the publisher。 Doug is a slug in need of a hug。 Sadly, people dislike slugs and won't give them hugs。This was adorable and I liked the ending very much because it says there are different kinds of love, and when you set out you might not find whatever you're looking for but see, there are other ways to be happy!
